EUREGIO

The name EUREGIO stands for ‘European region’. It is used to refer geographically to a section of the Dutch-German border area covering parts of the Dutch provinces Gelderland, Overijssel, and Drenthe as well as parts of the German federal states Nordrhein-Westfalen and Niedersachsen. The region covers some 13,000 km² with about 3.37 million inhabitants.

The Dutch-German public entity EUREGIO has been dealing with cross-border cooperation since 1958. Many successes have been achieved in the field of Dutch-German cooperation in our border region, yet there are still a number of challenges waiting to be solved. Cross-border commuters, an integrated labour market and cross-border infrastructure are some of the topics EUREGIO is working on, pursuing the overall vision of eventually creating a region where the border has lost its negative impact and offers opportunities and a 360° perspective.

Employees at EUREGIO have different backgrounds, having studied among others Geography, Public Administration, European Politics, Cultural sciences or Dutch-German studies. Important key competences are intercultural skills, open-mindedness, flexibility and hands-on mentality. General attitude: strong interest in cross-border cooperation, European and Regional politics and European funding.

EUREGIO is located right on the border. We have an office building in Gronau (DE) and a conference centre in Glanerbrug (NL). Our working languages are both German and Dutch.
